The AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition (AVAC) is a community and consumer based organization, founded in December 1995 to accelerate the ethical development and global delivery of vaccines against HIV/AIDS. We provide independent analysis, policy advocacy, public education and mobilization to enhance AIDS vaccine research and development.
The HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) is an international collaboration of scientists and educators searching for an effective and safe HIV vaccine. The HVTN's mission is to facilitate the process of testing preventive vaccines against HIV/AIDS. Our organization conducts all phases of clinical trials, from evaluating experimental vaccines for safety and the ability to stimulate immune responses, to testing vaccine efficacy.
In 2007, the Gay Alliance of Genesee Valley [GAGV] is committed to advancing good health by integrating educational information about HIV vaccine research into their existing programs connected to the health needs of men and women who identify as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual or transgender in the City of Rochester and the Finger Lakes Region. To schedule a presentation about the importance of GLBT cultural diversity in HIV vaccine research studies sponsored by NIH/DAIDS and conducted at the University of Rochester Medical Center, please contact GAGV by phone at 585.244.8640 or call the HIV Vaccine Trials Unit at 585.756.2329.
