Remember, HIV vaccines are synthetic and do not contain live or killed virus. It is IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to get HIV from the vaccine by taking part in these studies. Only from behavior.
We currently seek men and women who are NOT infected with HIV (HIV-negative), ages 18-50, including people who are NOT even at risk for exposure to the virus in their life behaviors or occupation. Throughout our studies, blood draws are taken and the volunteer’s blood samples are taken to the lab. All the challenge against the virus takes place in the laboratory, not in the person. Being in a vaccine study is more like donating blood. We welcome your phone call or email to learn more. Send email to: hvtu_cer@urmc.rochester.edu or call us at 585.756.2329
One of our current vaccine studies is also being conducted at research sites around the world including cities across the United States and Canada. It’s a Phase II study and is called The Step Study because international researchers believe this research vaccine is promising and will become one BIG STEP toward a vaccine that may prevent AIDS for the world.
