The Community Advisory Board (CAB) at the University of Rochester Medical Center consists of dedicated representatives and researchers united toward a world without HIV and AIDS. We are a diverse group of people from the Rochester area and represent a variety of community interests. Our local CAB is also represented on the Global CAB of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) whose mission is geared toward ensuring equity across international vaccine trials.
Our mission is to facilitate appropriate, timely, and ethical research efforts which may ultimately bring an end to HIV and AIDS. The CAB provides a formal channel for ongoing education, communication, advocacy, and problem solving among representatives of the community and those involved in adult and pediatric HIV/AIDS treatment and preventive vaccine research. We welcome new members, especially those whose lives have been affected by HIV or AIDS. We invite all interested persons to attend any of our monthly meetings. Meetings are conducted at the Strong Memorial Hospital on the 4th Wednesday evening of every month, except July and August, between the hours of 5:45 and 7:15 p.m. Light food and refreshments are provided, so please call ahead to let us know you plan to attend.
