The HIV Vaccine Trials Unit (HVTU) at the University of Rochester Medical Center is one of several research sites around the world that together comprise the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. The Rochester site conducts research vaccine studies sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the attempt to discover a vaccine that may one-day prevent HIV infection or AIDS.
Imagine a world without AIDS and learn how you can help create it.
Finding an HIV vaccine that will one-day prevent AIDS is the ultimate challenge for our human family and it is possible only with help from people like you, the vaccine study volunteers.
Our mission is to stimulate and enhance community-based dialogue concerning preventive HIV vaccines, thereby creating a supportive environment for present and future vaccine studies that are necessary to find a safe and effective HIV vaccine.
Our vision is to promote preventive HIV vaccine awareness and education. With your help, we hope to:
• foster community support for vaccine studies and vaccine volunteers
• create partnerships with local groups, businesses and other organizations, and
• increase awareness about why a preventive HIV vaccine is the world’s best hope to stop AIDS.
